Image via WikipediaThe cultural association of people descending from the village of Agio Pnevma in Serres that live inThessaloniki released last year two CDs with traditional songs of the Darnakohoria region in Serres.The songs are performed by the choir of the association and i think they deserve a great bravo for their effort.The lyrics of the songs are mainly in the local dialect (even though in many instances standard Greek is used as well and i guess this happens because it was more suitable for maintaining the meter),so i provide a "translation" of the most unintelligible to a standard Greek speaker words and expressions.

*acheiloudi=diminutive of cheili (lip).The neuter diminutive ending -oudi is very common in many Macedonian and Thracian dialects.
*voulizoumi=i want (see ancient Greek "boulomai")
*pirifanevisi=a variant of perifanevesai (you brag)
*emourfi=a variant of omorfi (beautiful)
*afourmi=accusation
