Reading an article on christian teachings and doctrines of one of their most celebrated leaders (http://caelumetterra.wordpress.com/2012/03/10/this-luminous-darkness/#comment-9677),
But as the soul makes progress, and by a greater and more perfect concentration comes to appreciate what the knowledge of truth is, the more it approaches this vision, and so much the more does it see that the divine nature is invisible. It thus leaves all surface appearances, not only those that can be grasped by the senses but also those that the mind itself seems to see, and it keeps on going deeper until by the operation of the spirit it penetrates the invisible and incomprehensible, and it is there that it sees God. The true vision and the true knowledge of what we seek consists precisely in not seeing, in an awareness that our goal transcends all knowledge and is everywhere cut off from us by the darkness of incomprehensibility. Thus that profound evangelist, John, who penetrated into this luminous darkness, tells us that no man hath seen God at any time (John 1:18), teaching us by this negation that no man – indeed, no created intellect – can attain knowledge of God.

This is a clear example of a person who pre-emptively quits from seeking the knowledge and the truth of the world just for the "reason" of imagining it as incomprehensible by the human mind. Easy quit. This a clear example of a school dropout excuse for not continuing their studies.
Medice and health science is clearly avoiding this religious knowledge avoidance, so today with the Hellenic Mind back in the steering wheel of the World, we can cure diseases and live better lives NOW not in an imaginary future "life" with the imaginary "creator" who was simply "created" in their imagination for their "need" to excuse their dismissal of studying and understanding the World they are born in.
When a challenge is presented to a human there are two possibilities for dealing with it: the first is avoidance in all costs and a presentation of a list of excuses for this non action, the second is to accept the challenge and deal with it methodically , scientifically and fact gathering before and after a set of controlled human actions. Then the study could direct to a better method of study or to a conclusion and a theory with proven steps inputs and expected outcomes.
The "theological approach" kills all scientific thoughts in their foetal steps, though dictates "divinely given knowledge" to people who credit superstition and dismiss evidence and proven scientific models of actions.
That is why their "Luminous" is in fact a real Darkness.
As from many examples of college dropouts, they are good in business of managing people's expectations and becoming rich in non religious environments, they are not as many as the legions of manipulators in the religious shrines, monasteries, bishop sees, mosques, synagogues and all sorts of people manipulation faith environments.
